Where are the heroes? During the Watergate era When faced with criminality Of Nixon Then the greatest crook To become President There were political heroes Who stood up to Nixon Told him it was time to go. Flash forward to today When there are no Republicans Standing up to the greatest con man The greatest criminal to become President. They all have kissed his ass For fear of riling up his base And no one is willing To be the one to tell him It is time to go. The democrats Are worried that Biden Is too old to run And need to retire. But no one wants To force him out Although they know He cannot win. And Trump if he is re-elected He will be a dictator In the mode of his hero Orban . And no one can stop him For fear of ending up In his camps For dissidents and migrants. The Ubi Sunt is a thematic form dealing with the transitory nature of this world. The name is a Latin phrase meaning "Where are they?" The structure is left entirely up to the poet, as described and demonstrated in the following links: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/learn/glossary-terms/ubi-sunt https://pennyspoetry.fandom.com/wiki/Ubi_sunt https://research.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/2014/02/11/where-have-all-the-flowers-gone-... |
