Don't you recognize me?
The bell rang.
I opened the door to the garden, blinded by the light of the sun peeking in.
A figure was about to step aside and walk away before I could say something.
"Yes?" I asked rather sharply. It was lunchtime and I was in the middle of eating my salmon and lettuce sandwich. No one in town bothered to visit during lunchtime. And I didn't recognize the person.
The man turned back and faced me. A strange-looking old man, wrinkled, dressed in black, and holding a scythe in his hand.
I was in denial!
"Don't you recognize me?" His voice was even darker than I remembered from a month earlier.
"I told you I'd come back for you, so here I am."
"Sorry", I replied quickly. "I had my operation and I am cancer-free. They must have forgotten to tell you. I am not going anywhere with you."
And I slammed the door in his face!
I did not feel like eating the rest of the sandwich.
