Living a Lie

Living a lie—that's what they said
He smiled, kept on pushing ahead
Through the tough days and the long nights
Ever the optimist, seeking the light
He worked quite consistently, knowing by and by
Habits formed pay off well, despite "living a lie."

"Living a lie—" what good arises?
It's wasteful, all hazy surmises
He ignored the naysayers all
Kept painting the pictures he saw
Kept working even harder, kept giving a try
Knowing that he'd put truth into "living a lie."

The Wrapped Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of 2 or more stanzas of 6 lines each;
