NRA lied

NRA lied.

NRA lied.
Guns do kill
People died.

People are shot dead
By a madman with a gun
Just too much bloodshed.

Politicians offer prayers.
Refusing not even trying.
Shedding crocodile tears.

Gun ghosts dying
NRA lying
Love ones sighing

No one seems to care
The gun ghosts do not abide.
Too much carnage in the air.

ASSIGNMENT: Write a five-stanza poem about a favorite activity using a rhyme scheme of ABA, BCB, CDC, DED, EAE. Before posting the poem, ask yourself if any of the rhyme words seem forced or predictable. Subtle rhyming that sneaks up on the reader's awareness is much more effective than that achieved through blatant distortion of the language.
