Longing

Here I am longing for
those things I can no longer have.
Those things that my mind
refuses to contemplate.

A life before sickness and age
overtook my ambitions.

What can I do now?
How can I dare to hope?
I know how fragile life can be;
It is gone before one knows it.

How sad to leave behind a life of "if only..."
I do not want to be that person -
I want to do something
Even if it isn't profound.

One more chance, that's all I ask;
Is it to much for just that one thing?
I am reconciled that I am on a different path;
From the one that I had dreamed.

A life of limitations
I did not expect.
