Fictional story |
Oct. 1: - Plot: What if? ▼ Every good story starts with a 'what if'. What if a young boy discovers he's a wizard? What if a girl discovers a world hidden inside her wardrobe? What if there was a cemetery where buried pets came back to life? What if dinosaurs were alive again? In this exercise, imagine your story and your main character(s). Who is(are) the character(s)? What happens to them, and why is it a problem? (If it's not a problem, it's just life, not a story. *Wink*) Spend at least 15 minutes imagining all the possibilities in your story. Make a list of every possible 'what if' you can think of. Nothing is off limits here - let your brain go. _______________________________ (I think I am leaning towards writing a fantasy story with an element of mystery and horror.) What if there is an adventure in an enchanted forest? What if there is a quest to concur like a scavenger hunt? What if there is an element of horror? What if there is a murder to be solved or a disappearance of item, pet, or human? What if there are enchanting characters? What if the real world were different from what appears? What if a young boy must face a challenge in order to save the fate of his family? What if a group of bandits want to steal an expensive painting or or ancient magical artifact? What if the hero of the story has a special ability or magical power or special object such as a talisman? What if the young hero is given an heirloom by a dying family member? What if the person with the magical object doesn’t believe in magic? What if they are in danger unaware? What if there is a guardian of some sort to protect the unaware hero? What if our hero is poor and conservative? What if our hero is also selfish? What if the hero is clumsy? What if the hero has been adopted and was raised by a transient that had witnessed his parents’ murder? |
