Ichabod Crane

Ichabod Crane, an intelligent man
Let his imagination run too wild
Superstition swirled, that's how it began
It all seemed to start when he was beguiled.

Young men were angered by his devotion
They sot out the lady and found him there
Jealousy ripe, they started disruption
To win the woman's heart they thought it fair.

To play a prank and scare his hide away
They mixed a tale of darkness and deceit
To win the girl and send him on his way
They had their folly which did have him beat

And so Ichabod Crane left that village
Ran for the hills to avoid the pillage.

Day 7: Ichabod Crane-
A Sonnet is a poem consisting of 14 lines (iambic pentameter) with a particular rhyming scheme:
Examples of a rhyming scheme:
A Shakespearean (English) sonnet has three quatrains and a couplet, and rhymes abab cdcd efef gg.

An Italian sonnet is composed of an octave, rhyming abbaabba, and a sestet, rhyming cdecde or cdcdcd, or in some variant pattern, but with no closing couplet.

Usually, English and Italian Sonnets have 10 syllables per line, but Italian Sonnets can also have 11 syllables per line.

Some background: The moral of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is not to let superstition guide your actions and overwhelm your reason. Ichabod Crane is an intelligent man, but he has an unfortunate tendency to let his imagination run away with him. His superstitions influence his decisions, and this leads him to disaster.
