A 52-week poetic adventure… |
There once were two pugs named Fluffy and Tuffy Who ventured through a dark cavern to find treats. They soon became lost in the labyrinth stuffy. A horrid screech made them shiver heads to feet— A zombie mummy monster, chasing them down With long claws, bulging eyes and hungry sharp teeth. Running as fast as they could, 'round and around It was hot on their trail, the pugs couldn't escape Lost in the blackness of hallways deep underground. "Someone help us!" they cried, "what path can we take To be saved from this monstrous and horrible fate?" At last a light shined dimly through a small crack; The pugs ran to the hole as quick as could be Against a dead end now, no way to turn back. "Only one of us fits! My brother, be free!" Tuffy shoved Fluffy out to save his life Standing up to the monster valiantly. Fluffy tumbled away to safe ground outside Waiting breathless minutes, then venturing in To haul out his brother and help him survive. "I'm alive! The monster is trapped—we win!" Tuffy hugged Fluffy, the pugs happy again. 22 lines, 187 words. Form: Terza Rima A Terza Rima is a poem with an eleven-syllable count in each line and a rhyming scheme of aba, bcb, cdc, dd.
