Election Jitters

The amygdala is a tiny brain part
that controls fear, anxiety, loathing,
emotions chained directly to our hearts.

This election season with traumas floating
the Constitution, freedom, dDemocracy
has people of good faith worrying.

Tricks, dirty deeds, and conspiracy theories
multiply in the air, bad bacteria.
My amygdala is overwrought, weary.

I will cast a spell on my amygdala
to dampen, tamp down, and quiet this drama.
