NaNoWriMo #10 Day 10. Spent this morning on my regular video phone call to my friend in Florida. She is getting so much better after her operation and all the treatment, but the pain is still there, as are the mental scars. It is Saturday night for her, Sunday morning for me, but it has become “our time.” As such, I sat down and wrote after hanging up (only 3 hours today), and finished the Bat Out Of Hell II story cycle! Last tale was written – it’s the showdown between the hunter and the vampires, and the introduction of an apprentice who helps out, niece of the priest who was killed a few stories ago. It’s not as good as the series I wrote for Musicology this year ("Whispering Jack" ), but is still not too bad, I think. I have tried to make each story a stand-alone, as well as flowing along to be a complete story when they are all put together, which means a lot of information is repeated, but that’s okay. It’s a fine line, and I hope I haven’t fallen off too often! It took one more false start, but I did it. One work completed. I then sat there and stared at my screen, unable to continue with either the cryptid or fairy story. I think finishing NaNo yesterday (well, achieving the goal), my brain decided to have a little nap today, a restette, if you will. I’ll give it one day of sliding down in word count. Of course, I have been in pain a lot lately, and sleep has been a premium, so weariness isn’t helping. I think an early night tonight, get if not sleep then a rest, and hopefully will hit tomorrow running. So: Bat Out Of Hell II – 2466 words, for a total of 18576 words. Total words: 56059 |
