Waiting For More, Turkey Story and

I don't want to jinx it, but everyone is saying we will be having a mild Winter, and I just don't believe it. I am still waiting for our snow to start. We've been having rain, and that is fine with me. I just used to having at least a few flakes by now. I hope I'm wrong. I could live with the rest of the Winter being like this.

For Blogging Circle Of Friends

Jimmy crept into the basement to fetch the turkey his mother wanted. It was just as creepy down here in the morning as in the night. He hated the basement. His stomach knotted up every time he had to come here, and she wanted him to get the turkey so she could thaw it for tomorrow. Jimmy sighed and trudged on.

The sound of scrambling sent a shiver up his spine. The gray walls seemed to close around him. He held onto the railing as he descended the steps. He heard the scrambling again.

"Great," he said to the large basement, "Rats as well as ghosts to think about."

He looked into the corner when he got to the bottom step. Something was in the corner. It was standing right there tall, black and looking right at him. Jimmy froze at the bottom of the steps. It just stood there. He couldn't see his face, and he didn't want to. His knees felt like they had turned to jelly. Jimmy looked at the freezer which was still a couple of feet away. Could he get there and back upstairs before whatever it was attacked?

Jimmy's heart nearly burst from his chest, and he decided to risk it. He was breathing so fast as he sprinted across the basement floor. He threw the freezer opened and snatched the turkey from where it sat. Looking at the thing in the corner, Jimmy sprinted again to the safety of upstairs. The door closed with a bang.

The mice wondered what all the commotion was, and the rake stood innocently in the corner.

For my blog

The Biblical holidays are Jewish feast days, as far as I can tell. I don't know enough about any of them to pick a favorite.
