A Party with Class
I am not a party animal. In fact the word party makes me think of the wild scenes of movies. But to I am okay with being in the kitchen as a helper who puts things together and later goes round to clean up. I have never seen people eat too much or drink too much. My friends think that is fine because it leaves more for them.
One night I went to a party in which the host was a good friend of my brother. He and my brother enjoyed military conversations. The themes went from major battles to weapons employed. Now even if these two men were at a different partly, they would find each other and begin where they left off the last time they were together.
One night I went to a party where a character for the next movie being filmed was invited. All of the guests flocked to get a selfie picture or autograph. I smiled at the fact that my brother had finally gone to a party that he could really enjoy.
I walked around and picked up plates, glasses and napkins. As I did so , I bumped into this friend of the host. He seemed to think that it was funny that i was trying to keep the place nice when the other guests were complete slobs. (Sorry but they were.)
We introduced ourselves. I found out that he went to the same college that I did many years ago. I did not go through the fine arts program. I was going to be a teacher for the multi-impaired. He mentioned that his son and his wife had a child with Cerebral Palsy. They were concerned that there were not enough programs for the child to have an acceptable education. I understood his worry. I mentioned that the child's doctor should contact the medical center and discuss his little patient with a director of pediatric development. That put the guest at ease and he thanked me for my time.
When my brother, his wife and I were going home, the host ran out to the car and thanked all of us for coming. He said that his friend left and would always remember the kindness we showed his special friend. It was a great evening.
