War Time Romance



Nurse Tilly Ernier was just finishing her shift in the ward for men who suffered concussions. She promised the head nurse that her report on each patient was fully detailed. She handed in the record of the last man whose vitals were not normal. His duty in the conflict in World War II was intense and very dangerous.. She hoped that he would be sent home soon and could see the family he fought for.
She finished and turned to go to her locker to get her purse. Today was the last day of January. It was four months since she met the handsome doctor who was reassigned from Alaska to Texas. Dr. Bud Graham was not only one of the best doctors in camp but handsome as well. He was happy to walk her to her residence. She felt nothing but joy to be with him.
And the unspoken love was definitely in the air.
With he month of February just a few hours away, Tilly suspected that he might have a surprise for her. And her blue eyes began to look for the tall light brown hair of the man who would put more sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes.
As she walked past the dining room, she heard a soft, “Oh nurse. “
She turned to see if a patient was lost.
“Yes?” As she spun around.
Both people froze.
They smiled. And walked slowly towards each other.
“Could you help me?” asked the doctor in his uniform.
“Of course.” She replied. “What do you need?” As she tiptoed to give the man a kiss.
“I think you just did. “ he replied as he held her for a brief moment to look at her.
From there, Tilly got her purse and the pair walked to her residence where he proposed with a beautiful ring. Her “Yes” was more beautiful than any music he had heard.
“Say it again.” he asked.
“Oh yes, Bud.”
And from there, for the next few days, the couple could be seen talking, smiling and laughing as they strolled around the camp until……
