My retina detached
Right eye first
then left.

And you know what?
I've discovered the joy
of audio books!

I listen to my favourites
and technology suggests
those I haven't heard of
that have now become new favourites.

I've learnt to delight
in the voices of various readers
who gave up their time
to make sure I could enjoy literature.

Enid Blyton, PG Wodehouse,
JK Rowling, Gerald Durrell,
LM Montgomery, Dorothy Gilman

Their words are brought to life
Their characters enter my home
and my heart

'You poor thing, you can't read
normal books now!'
People say.
'Reading used to be your life!'

But I can listen.
and this has opened up
a whole new world
that I wouldn't have discovered otherwise.

Poor thing? Not by a long shot.
My life is enriched with audio books.
