TUYC - on Heaven

There are so many people in the world that don't have even basic care, it is mind boggling- I see people complaining that they don't get what is "their rights", especially here in the States, but really, a lot of people would love what we call "poverty". Is this world upside down or what?

Heaven - I didn't know much about it as a child, outside of hearing someone say, "Go to hell" or perhaps a "God Bless You" after a sneeze. I didn't come to know the saving power of Christ until I was about 15.

Heaven always seemed to be the goal, and Hell to be shunned. Heaven is magical, almost, and there would be "no more tears". No more suffering. No more pain. Who wouldn't want that?

John 14:2
"My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?". (Jesus' words)

Philippians 3:20
"Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ".

Revelation 21:4-8
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain".

On the other hand, Hell was hot, and those going there are assured eternal torment. I don't see anyone willingly signing up for that.

"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." - Matthew 10:28

I believe that one must make a conscious decision to choose where they want to spend eternity. I know a lot of people get turned off by this, or feel that "being good" in this life is enough. And for their sakes, I hope that is true. But for me, I "know in my know-er" that I must choose. Do I always choose the right course? No. Do I make mistakes? Certainly. Do I want to cram "this stuff" down people's throats? Been there, done that - it doesn't work

All I ask is, don't throw it out, but think about it. Come up with a decision that is right for you, and go from there.
