Into the Wind

Ode to February

Glistening dew drops through melted frost
Lingers in the air as the last remnants of winter
Release its hold on slumbering nature
Awakening to a brighter warmer miracle
Growing stronger with each heartbeat
Becoming new again after a dampened
Curtain of molding leaves and bare trees

No remorse, no regret as a new slate appears
Second chances to become who I'm supposed to be
Rising from the ashes of winter's snuffed out fires
The foraging of new roots, ladened with promises
Of a better tomorrow as the sun warms the earth
Teasing delicate flowers and budding trees into
The arms of salvation from our own inner destruction.

An ode to February embracing all that comes
From ice to trickling streams and warm beaches
The month in which you chose to grace me
With the title of Mother, a truly noble name
And to this month I will forever be grateful
Owing my soul to the joy that you are
My daughter, my world, my best friend
