I’m safe only after checking,
striping, or spotting it all

safe with my lucky
astrological mood watch

safe with the barrier method
in tortoiseshell
safe in rose-coloured goggles
a safety net awaiting
my graceless fall

I’m safe when I dance
by myself in the kitchen
steam heat rising in thrall

safe in my harnesses
safe in my arms
safe from it all
