This picture, my totem,
my touchstone
a Blue Madonna
pensive, serene,
surely before the crucifixion.
My holy child, at forty-five
baptized this Good Friday.
Mama Mary and I wait
for a takeover
of hope in the world.
Away with flashy facades
and the low despots
that hold and wield
the power of destruction.
I wait for a celebration
of the heart.
The Great Mother and I
hold close
all the world's holy children.
