What am I Reading
Day 3821 of April 29
What am I reading?
First I am reading all of the birthday cards and emails that I got for my birthday yesterday. Some are quite cute. Others include happy messages. I have thanked the family and friends and plan to keep these cards for a while. Who knows if there is an inspirational part that I can use as a prompt.
Next I am reading a book on my Pulitzer prize list that I talked about a while ago. I have not read from that book much but my goal is still to determine what makes a book popular and one that could be award winning special. That one is “His Family” by Ernest Poole. He was a journalist during the revolutionary Russia time and a war correspondent of WW I. This was about his family. Quite good actually. Goal: finish by the end of the year.
Third is Battlefield of the Mind, a devotional book by Joyce Meyer. It offers short, powerful messages for day to day reading. it offers strength and encouragement in the religious area.
Fourth is “The Cabin at the end of the Train” by Michael V. Ivanov. It helps a person how to pursue his/her dreams, especially in writing.
Fifth is ‘The Writer’s Digest’ magazine. It has tips, and authors’ explanation of things in writing. Once a year it offers websites that cover different topics. Beginners need all the help they can get. (Yes, that includes me!)
There are a few others like the newspaper. I have tried to pick up reading more instead of sitting in front of the TV or idiot box. I want to keep those lazy gray brain cells I have happy and active.
The material I read from depends on my mood. I do have extra things laying around that are something I am interested in. But if I sit and vegetate i know that my life would be not just boring but yucky.
So I am interested in seeing other members’ answer to this question. Reading really is the key to many things. But if one just sits around, we are brain-dead bound. And I am not trying to make fun of those in nursing homes because those people did have a life, long ago, once. I wish them well.
