Spanish Lullaby

Hush, dear babe, let me sing you a song
As waves slither ashore all night long.
Peaceful moonbeams light up a path
Rippling away to the horizon and back.
Palm trees sway softly in the warm island breeze
While daddy strums his guitar for you and for me.
Sleepy eyes smiling as love surrounds you,
Sand castle spires, sweet dreams all around you.
When you awaken, sunshine will be bright
Fresh on the horizon, all things are made right.
Toucans and parrots will greet you with singing
Colorful feathers, lovely flowers, tropical fruits I am bringing,
All gifts for a baby as sweet as can be
Sleep well, my dear one; you're safe here with me.

I happened to open WdC on my phone while standing in the checkout line at Publix. As I read this prompt for the first time, the most prominent sound was Madonna's “La Isla Bonita” on the overhead speakers. I've always considered it a cute and inspiring sort of song, and leaped at the chance to paint my own word picture of a beautiful tropical island.
