Deuteronomy 28:7
The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

What a promise from God. He will not only direct the battle, but gives assurance that the enemy will flee before you.

James 4:7-10

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Prayer prompt: Pray for a unity amongst churches in your community.

The following verses give reason for believers to come together in unity of faith.


Proverbs 27:17-20 New International Version (NIV)
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever protects their master will be honored. As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart.


English poet John Donne, writing in the 17th century, famously wrote that “no man is an island,” comparing people to countries, and arguing for the interconnectedness of all people with God.

The phrase isn't a direct Bible verse. However, it reflects Christian teachings on community and connection. In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Paul explains this using the body of Christ as an example. He shows that each person has a vital role in the unity of the whole.
