Time Machines and Dreams

Prompt:
"We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they're called memories. Some take us forward, they're called dreams." In what ways and how do you think memories and dreams are related?

First, many times when I dream, it is of the past, with people from the past. Maybe I don't have enough real dreams or asperations? I can't say I dream about the future. So, I off hand can't see that they relate. If we all have our time machines, what are they? Having goals doesn't really match that. It is a clever phrase but I don't see the relationship. Tell me how it does?

Memories, the past. Many we want to forget; others, keep. The only relationship I could possibly see would be that memories are in the past but do we travel there, maybe.

I would like to hear more from others on this one.
