This is the Last
Day for This Month

It took me longer than I thought it would to finish writing the last two Sections/Parts for my second Short Story for this month. I thought it would only take me about three hours at the most before I finished it, but it was probably closer to four hours before I was done creating it.

Even after I finished writing it, I still had a big problem. It was more than two thousand words. I had a find a way to condense it to under two thousand words. It’s times like these when I wish these contests were twenty-five hundred words instead of two thousand.

That isn’t as bad as it sounds, though. I was only about forty-two words over the two thousand mark, and most of that was in the last Part/Section of this Short Story. When I added the first half with the second half, it was only twenty-one words over that mark.

Twenty-one words over that mark isn’t too bad, especially for me. I cut back on the last Section/Part by almost that many words by itself. The other five Parts/Sections took up the rest of the overdraft of words without too much problem. Unfortunately, I still had a slight problem.

Both halves of this Short Story were almost a thousand words each. I don’t like to cut it that close to the edge of the limit. I’m afraid I did something wrong, and it would end up being over two thousand words. Then they would have an excuse to disqualify me from that contest.

They don’t need to disqualify me because I already know I won’t win either of these contests, I never do. I don’t want to give them any excuses to justify me not winning them. So, I try to keep all of my contest entries a little under two thousand words. About fifty to eighty-five under.

This month, my short stories are forty-five under for my WDC Short Story and fifteen under for my second Short Story. I already established that goal with my WDC Short Story for this month. It was my second Short Story that I had a little bit of trouble with.

It only took me about an hour to get my second Short Story down by fifteen more words. After I finished that, all I needed to do was write My Notebook entry for these two short stories. By the time I finished writing My Notebook entry, I only had about two hours to create these short stories.

Of course, I had a little trouble creating these short stories, especially my WDC Short Story for this month. I had a lot of Grammarly issues that I had to fix. Why they didn’t come up when I was writing them, I don’t know. All I know is that I had a lot of them.

Luckily, I got them both created within those two hours. I also posted the My Notebook entry within those two hours. Now I can return to my scriptwriting projects. That’s why the title of this blog entry is what it is. This is my last day this month to work on my short stories.
