Why is it so hard for us (me) to put aside sin? We have been redeemed by Christ's blood, an amazing gift of mercy and grace, which was completely unearned. I haven't figured this out as of yet, to my shame. We need only look to our Savior, and to keep our eyes on Him, as we follow Him in our race to eternity. What are we (am I) holding onto? There's nothing that the world can offer that could take the place of having a life in Christ. Lord, help me!

2nd Chronicles 7:14 states:

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Again, it is conditional upon the heart(s) of the people. If we truly want healing for our land, whether it be spiritual, physical, or whatever - we must 1. humble ourselves 2:pray and seek God's face, and 3 turn from their wicked ways - repent and turn in another direction. It requires action on our part. I'm not trying to scripture whip anyone, this is how I read this verse. God is willing to do these things, but it is a two-way street, like any relationship.

Where do I struggle to love others? As a rule, I try to "live and let live", however, there are times that my "righteous indignation" flares up when I think people aren't doing right. But what right do I have to judge? I'm just as guilty at times as anyone else. I need God's help in seeing people how God sees them, and to love them unconditionally. Can that cause harm? It could, but it's not up to me to judge, it's up to God. My only job is to love them as Christ does.

Scripture writing prompt: Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Prayer prompt: Pray that God's people will humble themselves and repent of their sins so he will heal their land.

Blog prompt: In what areas do I struggle to love others as God loves them? What can I do about it?
