25. "Fake" Sushi

Hey, c'mon! *Pthb* There's loads of fake NEWS around, and many couldn't care less – this "sushi" is at least nutritious, sating (if you use quality food*Idea*), and – most of all – manageable.*BigSmile* Not to mention that it'll impress everyone – from party guests to co-workers *Sly*

It even features in one of my stories which is blurring nonfiction (= autobiographical) with what I wish I had (already)*StarStruck*:

.

I have the recipe originally from (the German translation of) a collection of recipes called Lunchbox – Lunch ideas for kids and adults which was originally published by an Australian publisher, Bauer Media. (No individual author.)

And I bought it from the book section of my German supermarket to go, because the lunch box on the cover looked so *StarStruck**Hungry*. (And no, it wasn't this one.*Wink*)

What can I say? The way to this girl's heart is through her stomach.*Rolling*

In mentioned story I chose this recipe as it seemed feasible to me, and something I (and my yet to arrive better half*Pthb* *Clock2*) would eat. Easy to transport, too...

Alrighty, I start babbling. *RollEyes*

Off to the kitchen!*Smirk2*

Serves: 20-32/6 "sushis" Depending on how broad / slim you cut the wraps.*Idea* Recipe says 20, Imanaged 8-9 / wrap

Prep Time:
about 1 hr

Degree of Difficulty: Easy

WE NEED

4 wraps Whole grain says the recipe, but tortilla wraps fit better as they're easier to use – the whole-grained crumbled apart.*Idea* My mistake? Since I don't often use wraps, I overread that they should be lightly warmed before use, so they become smoother, and don't crack.*FacePalm*

Pastrami-Swiss Cheese

125 gr / 4.5 oz.
white cabbage shaved
1 tsp Dijon Mayonnaise Good luck searching, says poop me sitting at the source*Laugh*
100 gr / 3.5 oz. pastrami
6 slices Swiss Cheese I used classic Emmentaler

Salmon-Goat

60 gr / 2 oz.
goat cream cheese with scallions / chives, either already in it or – like me – fresh
100 gr / 3.5 oz.
smoked salmon Label Rouge is a premium brand = the BEST quality
4 leaves mini romana lettuce I used a mix of already leaved salads / lettuces.

WE DO

1.
If you use fresh herbs, thoroughly wash + chop them – I used up fresh chives + red onion – and stir them into the (plain!) goat cheese. If you don't like goat, normal cream cheese is okay, too. As always, NOT fat-reduced*ExclaimG* Cut the septum (= middle bone) and remaining fish bones from the salmon. It's fatty-mushy, and bones in your teeth...*Sick*

2. Warm the wraps singly on low flame in a matching pan. Like I said, so they don't crumble/crack.

3. Make the wraps:

PASTRAMI-SWISS CHEESE: Mix white cabbage + mayo in a bowl. Top EACH wrap with half of the mayo cabbage + pastrami, and 3 slices swiss cheese. In my case, it was rather 2 slices as they were really large.

GOAT-SALMON: Spread EACH wrap with half of the goat/cream cheese and top with half of lettuce + salmon.

Then, roll up the wraps tightly and cut each into 5-9 sushi-sized pieces. So they don't disintegrate, spear them with toothpicks.

Guten Hunger! *CountryJP* *Sushi* *Hungry*
