Lessons
I've imprinted lifelong lessons within my heart
Living accelerated, from previous naivety.
First off: I'm not called to be everyone's friend.
Cliques are real, and it's not my fault if I don't feel accepted
Or consciously choose to avoid certain people.
My friends are friends with those who aren't my friends –
It all makes sense, somehow.
I am a calm, steady presence: reliable, loyal, kindly,
“A breath of fresh air,” someone told me.
I'm not responsible for how others perceive me
Nor do I control how they express themselves.
I'm here to grow, learn, achieve new heights.
Some people may be always out of reach;
I pray for them and move on. No grudges. That's life.

Prompt: Something that will always be out of reach…
