october 2025 Novel prep for Giant Nazi SPiders |
Giant Nazi Spiders – Day One Prompt: What If October 1 – Plot: What If? What if one day the world ended when the Khan—giant Nazi spiders—invaded Earth and attempted to incorporate it into their Galactic Empire? The Empire already consists of ten other worlds conquered by the Khan, a race of massive spider-like creatures who believe themselves to be the master race of the universe. They rule through fear, intimidation, and ruthless efficiency. Having studied human history from afar, the Khan are particularly fascinated by the Nazi era. They see themselves as kindred spirits and arrive on Earth pretending to be allies of the global underclass. Exploiting widespread grievances, they incite a mass revolution against the elites, liquidating any potential opposition—while welcoming those corrupt enough to join their regime. ________________________________________ What Ifs to Explore • What if two older men—Jake Lee and Will Smith—hiking the Pacific Trail and cut off from the internet, arrive in a small town for supplies and discover the world has changed? Refusing to comply, they spark a global resistance movement called FTS (Fight the Spiders), which quickly goes viral. • What if Jake and Will succeed in building a powerful resistance? • What if the Khan grow weary of trying to suppress the uprising and begin to fear it might spread to their other conquered worlds? • What if the Khan are haunted by an ancient prophecy foretelling their downfall at the hands of a race of monkeys? • What if Jake and Will unite humanity by appealing to shared religious beliefs, rallying the faithful against the openly atheistic Spider regime? ________________________________________ Why “What If” Matters Every great story begins with a “What if?” • What if a young boy discovers he’s a wizard? • What if a girl finds a hidden world inside her wardrobe? • What if buried pets came back to life? • What if dinosaurs walked the Earth again? In this exercise, imagine your story and your main characters. Who are they? What happens to them—and why is it a problem? If there’s no problem, it’s just life—not a story. Spend at least 15 minutes brainstorming every possible “What if” you can think of. Nothing is off-limits—let your imagination run wild. |
