| Stranded! Marina Mirasol is a 13 year old Latina girl on a yacht in the Caribbean with her parents for Spring Break on March 21st. Marina doesn’t like being the sole heiress to a chili pepper corporation, and feels their excess money should go to help the less fortunate. Her parents disagree with her, telling her that she may change her mind when she gets older. Marina gets angry and storms off, then spots a boat in the distance. The boat was in distress and arrives asking for help. When it gets close enough, the yacht was overtaken by six armed pirates. The distress call was a ruse! A couple of them have AK-47s, while the others have handguns. Marina was put into a life raft by herself while her parents were forced to empty their safe for the pirates. After some time, the yacht was out of view, and the raft was out on the open sea. A strange energy field surrounded the raft. She arrives on an island where the plant life exists on a much smaller scale. The tallest trees don’t extend above Marina’s shoulders. *********************************** Page 1: 5 panels ***************** Panel One: (Wide Panel) [Yacht on the sea surrounded by water and blue skies, with some clouds, but not many] Caption: Marina Mirasol was a teenage Latina on a yacht in the Caribbean with her parents for Spring Break on March 21st… Panel Two: Marina: “I’m just saying, I don’t like being the sole heiress to a chili pepper plantation!” Panel Three: Mrs. Mirasol: “What would you want to be instead?” Panel Four: Marina: “I just think we should share our excess money with the unfortunate!” Panel Five: Mrs. Mirasol: “You might feel differently when you get older, Marina.” Page 2: 3 panels ***************** Panel One: (Wide Panel) [Marina storms off angrily] Marina: “I’m 13 years old, I’m not a kid any more!” Panel Two: (Wide Panel) [There is a boat in the distance] Marina: “That boat is approaching!” Panel Three: (Wide Panel) [In the radio room] Mr. Mirasol: “They’re hailing us, they’re in distress!” Page 3: 4 panels ***************** Panel One: Mrs. Mirasol: “Do you think it’s wise to trust them?” Panel Two: Mrs. Mirasol: “If we needed help, wouldn’t you want assistance?” Panel Three: (Wide Panel) Mrs. Mirasol: “Be careful, there are pirates in these waters!” Panel Four: (Wide Panel) Marina: “Mom, you’ve seen too many movies!” Page 4: 3 panels ***************** Panel One: (Wide Panel) [The two boats are side by side] Mr. Mirasol: “What appears to be the problem?
