A blog devoted just to my scriptwriting. That’s all I’m going to blogging about here.

A Bitterly Cold Shift
A Bitterly Cold Shift

I may be lucky if I get the twenty-one paragraphs I need to finish my ‘Skinless’ Story Outline. Not only do I have the possibility of my responsibilities at work during this first twelve-hour shift, but I also have a bitterly cold evening and overnight that may slow me down or prevent me from getting too much writing done during this twelve-hour shift.

It’s supposed to be about seventeen degrees when I head into work a little after five PM WDC time this late afternoon, and it’s supposed to be about eleven when I get off work at about six AM WDC time. I’m not sure about the ‘feels like’ temperature might be, but earlier today it was fourteen degrees and a negative one degree ‘feels like.’

So, the ‘feels like’ temperature when I go into work today, a little after five PM WDC, may be a little above zero, but when I get off work at about six AM WDC time, it’s probably going to be in the negative numbers again. That hasn’t been too big of a problem with my other Security Guard Posts, but it might be for this one. It could even be life-threatening.

After all, the heater in that Guard Shack isn’t very good. It doesn’t warm me up too well. Of course, I could live in my car as the other Security Guards do, but I can’t afford the gas it takes to keep the car running for twelve or more hours. It’s not just the gas usage involved in doing this; it’s also the fact that you shouldn’t be idling for that long.

Of course, I don’t have to idle for twelve or more hours. I could drive around most of the shift. Indeed, I don’t have to run patrols at this Post, but I still could drive around there if I wanted to do it. That, I don’t want to do for several reasons. One of those reasons is the usage up of my gas. It’s bad enough for idling, but it’s even worse when driving around.

Another problem with driving around this post is what if someone comes in there, and I’m not there to deal with them? That can get me into a lot of trouble. I’m sure the other Security Guards could do that, and not get into any trouble by doing it, but I can’t. It’s starting to get like the old company I worked for. It isn’t that bad yet, but it’s getting there.

The old security company that I worked for treated me different than everyone else, and this one is starting to treat me like that, especially at this Guard Post. I have been trying to get another post closer to me because my brother and I are moving soon, but they haven’t ‘found me another post’ or filled this post yet.

I don’t think they are even trying to find me another post. They didn’t have any problems doing it with the other Security Guard who used to work at this Post, but they can’t do it for me. Of course, I know that it’s hard to get someone for this Post, but they can force someone to work here as they did me. Only they don’t want to do that for me.

Driving around and using up gas isn’t the only reason why I don’t want to live in my car for the next twelve or more hours this evening and overnight tomorrow morning. I also don’t want to do it because it limits my writing. It’s very hard to write in a car, especially if I want to do it on my laptop. After all, I may only have one USB outlet.

Of course, I could go back to handwriting this ‘Skinless’ Short Story, but it’s very hard to do that in a car. Besides, I also have a problem eating and watching TV or movies in a car. Putting all of these problems today is the reason why I can’t work from my car at this Post. I will just need to stay as warm as I can in the terrible Guard Shack.
