Highlighting Newbie BioBlocks Hello Everyone!!! Digging deep, I found these Bio-Blocks that impressed me. I want to share them with you so that you might also get to know the people in our community better. Again, I came across many many Bio-Blocks that were still empty. Please take the time to write a few sentences that will give your readers some hints about your work or the focus of your work. Remember that you can always change your Bio-Block as the mood suits you, as long as it is kept G-rated. Here are some Newbie Bio-blocks I found interesting and/or entertaining. Hope you take the time to come on in.This time I would like to share some of the wonderful things that can be done with the author's tool called the Ideanary. I personally use this tool each and every time I begin a new piece of work. I find that it stimulates my imagination. I asked one of the other Moderators here and he has agreed to answer some questions about how he uses the Ideanary, and perhaps give us an example or two. So without further pause: Please welcome John~Ashen  Hi John, can you tell us what the Ideanary has done for you as a writer? How you use it, and perhaps show us an example or two? John: Hey, yes I do use the Ideanary!  First off, I use it as a spell-checker for words like "receive" and "yield" which are hard to remember.  Silly but effective, considering I don't have a dictionary here. The Ideanary also helps out somewhat as far as definitions for rare words; you can check to make sure you're in the right ballpark in meaning. Second, when reviewing others' poetry, I notice they use common words over and over. "Your love towards me was cold," for example. I go into the Ideanary to suggest ideas for "cold" and then leave those as comments. "Your love towards me was arctic." Third, I like alliteration in my own poetry. When I know I can spice up a line, I'll compare Ideanary lists to get words starting with the same letter. For example, "Your love towards me was cold" becomes "Your feeling towards me was frosty." This is also effective for writing fixed-syllable poems like haikus and dodoitsus. If you need a 2-syllable alternative to "cold" you can just look one up. John~Ashen For those of you who do not know what alliteration is, and I must say, I was one of those, I went to another Writing.com member and asked for a definition. Here is her response:Stormy Lady  ,please help me, a black case has asked me for help with alliteration, and I don't know what she is talking about. Can you help me out?Stormy Lady said:The repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables, as in “on scrolls of silver snowy sentences” (Hart Crane). Modern alliteration is predominantly consonantal; certain literary traditions, such as Old English verse, also alliterate using vowel sounds. So there you have it. An excellent tool, the Ideanary and a new definition. . Wind beneath your wings all,  amawitch    Hi again!!! So pleased to be here sharing the great stuff I have read on this site while raiding ports. I was so busy reading that I actually forgot to write down my "finds" and had to go over them again. Of course I did not mind, they were all wonderful. I really wanted to stick to some semblance of a pattern as I promised in the beginning. First, poetry, then short stories...etc. But I couldn't do it. I found so many fantastic things of varying genres and styles, that I literally threw my plans out the window, deciding to just post what I found, as I found it. You are all a wonderful group of people, and we thank you for sharing your talent with us.
