If you had to choose the worst book ever written, what book would you choose? Why? What about it makes this book the worst?

I Know I'll Catch Flack On This One

There is only one book I have ever had a struggle to both read and understand. This book is a classic best seller and the majority of the people in the USA and many throughout the world can quote something from it. It is used as a teaching book.

But I think it is the worst written book ever. Why? One, because of how it effects the lives of the innocent and the guilty. Two, every chapter can be interpretted to support either evil or good. Three, because of the many possible vague interpretations, this teaching book contains many mixed messages which confuse children, who are effected the most by the content. Four, many authors have been credited with the writing of this anthology of historical account covering at least three if not four ancient languages. So the book I am talking about has been translated from it's original languages taken from documents spanning centuries to a modern language of choice (English, French, Italian, German, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Swahili, ect into adnauseum), which means words with no specific meaning are interpreted with a precise counterpart in the modern language. And questionable words are adlibbed to fit in the text and derive the meaning the interpreter thinks might be the intended message. Five, there are many versions of this book (Catholic Bible, Koran, Torah, The Living Bible, The King James version before 1944 and the King James version after 1944) though I am only familiar with one. So I will limit my worst book ever written opinion to only include the revised 1944 King James version of the Holy Bible (which by the way is the only King James Bible you can buy today unless you scour antique book stores. Those of you who have family Bibles dating back generations, if you compare passages from your heirloom with todays KJV Bible you will see what I mean about interpretation differences and ommitted text).

If you could leave a time capsule the size of a microwave oven to be found centuries from now what would you put in it? What would you want the people who found it to discover about the past?

(Don't forget the reasons behind your decisions!)

Take care and may your road lead to only good places.

Compassion and the effort to try and understand some thing that was not understood before is a step toward acceptance not only of others but most importantly of yourself.
