Dear Scarlett,

I waited for what seemed like an eternity
For you to give me a sign
Just a little gesture
To show your heart was mine

But the whole time you lusted after another
Even when you knew you could never be husband and wife
But still you were willing
To watch him from afar for the rest of your life

You don't know how much pain you caused
I didn't let it show
You would have tormented me with that knowledge
If I had let you know

So, you see, I had to leave
Even though it broke my heart
We tried life together
But it was time for us to part

I can't seem to hate you
No matter how hard I try
When I think of you never loving me
I can only wonder why

I don't know why I love you
I've never loved before
But I have a feeling
I'll love you forever more
