We are planning to go away next week, so that is why I changed newsletter with Cubby I also picked up my passport this morning, while we have plans to go across the border on a daytrip or so. A different environment will do us good and it is also good for the lingual skills. We plan to let our daughter do the talking, but I'm afraid she'll be shy instead. It is a case of daring to speak in a language that is not your own. --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- Daring... If you are a poet, or seeking a challenge in poetry, make sure not to miss the slam. The Poetry Slam is one of my favorites and new authors are always welcome to participate in this experience, which is already famous on Writing.com. Take a look here:
--<>-- --<>-- --<>-- It will be a major change though. Going on vacation means that you change your environment completely. Your house surrounded with trees, birds singing everywhere... squirrels running around, picking up nuts. No Internet. You want to write, maybe a poem a day or a story pops in you mind. Make sure to have a notebook and a pen with you, an if you like to draw, you also need your pencils. Note the words in your head down. --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- Vacation... a perfect time to freewrite. I personally like to observe while on vacation. You can easily learn to know a person's character while sitting on a terras with a cup of coffee. That also counts for observing animals. They have their own characters, and observing them means that you are pulling out of another source of inspiration. With your notebook in your hand, and your pen of course, you can easily write these characteristics down. Freewriting it is called... this style of writing. Usually for freewriting a time limit of ten minutes is set. It usually is enough time to write down short pieces of information that you can work into a story later. You are training your eye, and your mind with it. You don't have to struggle with long stories while on vacation. Ten minues per day is enough to create a useful source of inspiration, to use when you are back home. --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- And what will be the first thing you do when you come home? Exactly... Checking your mail, your email and get your head full of worries. Change that for one time and take a seat, read over the notes you made in your vacation and write... See you all in August --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- --<>-- --<>--
