NUMBNESS

[When pain exceeds, the heart goes numb]



My eyes are in a constant haze.
I hear but I cannot listen.
I touch but I can’t feel a thing.
I cannot think, I can’t reason.

All around me is a vast sea
Of solitude and emptiness.
I have no more any feeling
Of pleasure or unhappiness.

My world is devoid of a soul.
My own company do I miss.
When pain is just too much to bear,
Even this numbness is a bliss.
