Random thoughts and observations from my little corner of the universe. |
Well, since you're probably new to reading my Blog (since, well, I just wrote it), I should probably introduce myself. :) The boring stuff... My name is Lori, I'm 25 years old, and I live in Norfolk, VA, with my husband of almost 3 years. We have no kids, but we do have a pug, four cats, a ferret, and a hedgehog. I had a horse until last year, and I want another one so bad I can taste it, but there's that whole time/money/space thing. Someday, though. My husband is in the military, and I work in customer service. Boring, but it pays the bills. My hobbies... I write (obviously). Fantasy is my passion, but I don't pigeonhole myself into one genre. At this time, I have the following novels in various states of progress: 4 fantasy, 3 sci-fi, 2 contemporary romance, 1 literary fiction, 1 horror, 2 thrillers, and a few others I can't think of off hand. I'm mostly focusing on 2 or 3 at a time, and if I get burned out on one project, I have plenty of others to work on. My biggest project right now is one of my fantasy novels, which is currently on its third draft. I also write short stories in almost every genre, including erotica. I don't write poetry as much as I used to, but I'm hoping to get back into it a little more. Aside from writing, I have about a million hobbies. When my knee isn't giving me too much trouble, I join my husband on the paintball field or go do some sparring with the local fencing club. I have ridden and shown Morgan horses in the past, most recently a stallion here in Virginia that I showed for someone else (though previously, I have only shown my horse and my family's horses). I miss that something awful, and hope to get back into it someday. Currently filling the "real horse" void is my model horse collection. I sculpt, paint, and show model horses in several states, and have been to the National Championships once. I've only begun painting in the last year or so, working mostly in oils, but I'm making progress. I also have several sculptures in the works, which I hope to cast in resin for limited edition releases. It sounds like an "odd" hobby (it is), but you should see some of the amazing detail on these horses! I LOVE to read, and have more books than I know what to do with. Ironically, I didn't get into reading fantasy until I'd finished my first draft of my own fantasy novel...then it dawned on me that some market research would be a wise move, and I've been hooked ever since. My favorite authors include Sara Douglass, Elizabeth Haydon, and Brian Jacques. I also enjoy Dean Koontz (I have 24 of his books) and some of Stephen King's work. So that's basically "me". If you hadn't noticed, I'm a little on the eccentric side (my mom calls it ADD). Signing off for now, but check back occasionally. :) |
