Beloved
Like a seraph’s kiss is the fluttering of your wings, and as the ocean waves your streaming hair. In your lovely eyes is reflected all the glory of the universe; in them I see the rising sun, its beauty in its flame; in them I see the earth, a maelstrom of blues and greens compressed within a single sphere― two spheres which are your eyes, two windows into your soul, so beautiful I dare not look for fear that I will be blind. But when I finally look up to gaze into your eyes, the image I treasure most is that of me, reflected within these portals to your soul, because they say that eyes will show the one most dear to them, so I in you. My dearest one, can you find in me the image of yourself? Or is it lost within my inner storm? Still, love, though death and demons be in the shadows of my eyes,

You are the one most dear. Let me wrap my arms about you in an endless embrace: as if I held the world, the fragile fleeting world, that long after it has gone, still induces floods of acrid tears, still cannot leave, so lingering in its old haunts,

still comforts, still holds me

in its presence, still swirling, still there. My beautiful, beautiful broken world, that shattered, still leaves a shimmering dream of love

that is reflected in your eyes.

Do the words one utters before death tend to be truer, or can they be a lie?
