Thrilled to be here.
When I first found Writing.com, I thought, what a neat place. I then signed up for my free account. For the next three weeks I perused a few forums, read some stories and poems. During that time, although I thought about putting a few things in my portfolio, I had yet to take the plunge. I honestly couldn't decide what to put up for others to see. Nothing, honestly, seemed good enough.

But then as I was on the internet one day, I came back to WDC. I stared at this empty place called My Portfolio and I felt an almost physical nudge to post something.

This pushing became so intense I finally threw up my hands and said, "Fine, I'll post something! Just quit bugging me!"

I began with a few of my poems, and even had the courage to plug one or two on "The Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window..

Not a week passed and I knew why the Spirit pushed me toward participating on this website. Not only did Anonymous give me a three month Upgraded membership, but I immediately began to receive constructive reviews on my items and was able to read other people's items that have touched me deeply as well as entertained me.

I had tried several other writing websites, but nothing made me feel more at home and more motivated to not only continue writing, but to seek publication. But the biggest blessing has been the people I've met and interacted with so far.

I just wanted to express my gratitude to all of you who have taken the time to teach me, encourage me, make me laugh and occasionally even make me cry (but in a good way).

I wish I could thank you all by name, but not only do I not have the room (or the time as Dave is bugging me to get off the internet, so he can check his own email), but I just know I'd end up leaving someone out.
