SENSE AND NONSENSE


What is sense and what is not,
Has no intrinsic sense.
These are cloaks of pretension,
That we don in defence.

What is good and what is bad,
Is often a question,
The answer to which depends
On mental reflection.

In the best there’s much of bad,
And, much good in the worst.
It is difficult to say,
Who is second, who first.

Let’s be answerable to
Only our own conscience.
Let others’ pin pricks and barbs
Not shadow our prudence.
