Perpetuation
Fear is a perpetual thing. The moment you give in to it, the harder it is to get rid of. For some reason, I’ve become afraid of writing what I really want to write in my blog (Tor nailed that one yesterday). But I’ve also noticed the more time passes, the more my fear grows, making it harder to conquer it, and not just with my blog.

It all started when I made a fool out of myself on a message board not that long ago, and I have yet to return. I can’t imagine ever showing my “face” there again. However, if I had continued to participate the moment I felt that twinge of fear, I might be there now. I’m sure even now all the other people who visit the board care not a whit about – and likely don’t even remember – my foolish behavior. But even knowing that has not helped my courage any.

Fear must be squelched at its first appearance, not later. Time does not get rid fear, but only allows it to become a permanent part of the mind.

So don’t be surprised if I begin adding two or three entries a day as I add all those things I’ve been afraid to add these last few days in an attempt to exercise courage and purge all my fears.

I’d better hit [Save Entry!] now before I lose my nerve!
