TREASURE OF THE DAY

The day the journal of my story is closed,
Just before I breathe my very last breath,
I want to rest assured knowing I exposed
My children to love, long before my death.

I like the flow and the message of this verse. It is for a contest about how we choose to be remembered.

afternoon, 43 degrees. 46 in Port Townsend, WA.

Spoke to Melissa at Goddard. If I had my ducks all in a row, I could possibly be in a program. But no, I can't imagine moving the mountains it would take just to get a transcript, much less fill out forms and deal with finances.

Finished reading 'Damia' by Anne McCaffery. Preferred her Pern novels.

There is a theme in 'Damia' of long sufferance, of patience, of ethics. Afra is a most admirable character. I would hazard a guess that many men would want to be that strong (if not that restrained).

Phone is whacky. Since when does it require a 1 or 0 to call Pittsburgh? Got me on that one.

Thank God I believe in process. This will need further work, it is from a sketch made in Oklahoma, May 1st, 2004:

Breathing in

I gasp each time I hear your voice.
Each inhale brings your fragrance
from afar, a thousand miles away.
Each exhale spills with paltry words
that cannot grasp reality. Your
laughter fills the air with oxygen.
Your smile clears out the webs of doubts
and each breath thrills with your taste.
My friends claim I've made a mistake,
but loving you is every breath I take.

Just not getting through to my friends! Everyone has a busy life it seems. I'll need to make some calls on the weekend. Of course, they could always call me.
