For the longest time, Dave has been wanting a hunting dog. His hankering for one only increased when his friend purchased a chocolate pointing Labrador Retriever. But, Dave not one to impulse buy anything, he proceeded to research hunting dogs for the next nine months. Three weeks ago, he found the one he wanted. In the online classified section of our local newspaper he found an advertisement for yellow Labs who, although not certified pointers, tend to point as well as flush. So after two visits to play with the puppies, we chose a female, the one most inclined to explore. We picked her up last night, so without further ado, here's Rufus: ** Image ID #1083110 Unavailable ** So why would we name a female Rufus? Dave's idea. His favorite character in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" was Rufus played by George Carlin. No one Dave has talked to, either at work or the people we bought her from, like the name. Me, I think it fits her. Not only did we get to play with the puppies, but the parents as well. Both were well-behaved and friendly dogs, but I think Rufus takes more after her dad in that she's more aggressive than mom. Plus, I think she will end up being as big as her dad who weighs between 70-80 lbs. Luckily we have a big yard! If you want to see more pictures of Rufus, I've added five (so far) in "Invalid Item" . Does this mean I'm already sappy about my dog? Yep . |
