It took me years
To define
My individual rhyme
That comes from the rhythm
And the emotional schism
Of my soul as
A pragmatic, overzealous
Black man
Who, in definition
Has none
Just me
Wallowing in my own sea of regretful waters
Hateful envious brothers and
Heartbroken lovers
But the past is my life
And I choose to live it
In spite of my strife
I choose to
live
