Chapter 2: This Makes Shit Look Good
Chapter Two: This Makes Shit Look Good

Raziel looked around and noticed that the building was very straight forward. As soon as you walk in, you see a desk with a lady behind it, and then a door to your right, which has to windows, allowing you to see down the long hallways of cells. The two officers went through the door that led to the cells and left me there at the desk.

"Name?" The lady asked while looking a blank form. Raziel looked confused but answered anyhow, "Raziel."

"Last?" She asked.

"I don't really have one. My father died when I was seven and my mother isn't around a lot." Raziel explained. The lady frowned.

"Oh, what a misfortune. I'll leave it blank." She said with some syhmpothy. Raziel slightly smiled, "Thanks." The lady took the form she wrote Raziel's information on and grabbed another stack and went to a room behind her, "I'll be right back."

Raziel nodded and sat down a bench they had in the room. It wasn't long before the cops came back in the room. "Get up." One said. Raziel did as they said.

"Now follow us, maggot." They led him through the hallway of cells and Raziel couldn't help but to wonder did he really belong along side thugs, murders, and rapists? He didn't think so as they stopped at an empty cell.

"Here's your new home." One of the officer's said. "Well," Raziel grinned, "I do like them cozy." The officer shoved him in and closed the cell gate. "Good, not many have that taste." He laughed with the other officer as they walked away. The cell was old and had a toilet, a sink, and a bunk bed on it. Maybe this cell wasn't empty. Raziel peered over the top and saw a man that looked around his age, just a bit older. He had tan skin and a jagged scar on his left arm. It looked as if some sword had caused it. He was also asleep, snoring. He shook him and his eyes shot open.

The man sat up, and stared at Raziel. "Welcome friend." He said in a groggily voice and jumped off the top bunk. He went over to the sink and washed his face, and then looked in the mirror. "What's your name?"

"Raziel, yours?" The man smiled.

"My name is Corey." He said as he sat down on the bottom bunk. Raziel stared at his scar for a while and then looked away. "So, why are you here?"

"Me? I have no idea. I was trying to save a boy from a robber and when I grabbed the boy and ran away, a cop thought I was kidnapping. Of course, they intstantly cuffed me and sent me to prison. I've been here for a year." Raziel couldn't help but to feel the same way; he had been misjudged and sent to prison.

"I'm 14, I can't believe I can go to jail at this age. My mom will be furious... if she ever comes back." Raziel sighed. Corey looked at him and wondered for a minute.

"Your mom? What about your dad?" He asked. Raziel felt as if a bullet hit him when Corey asked that question. Raziel blinked and sighed. "He died when I was seven."

"That's sad, I don't have a mom or dad. Or at least I don't know them." Corey said. Raziel looked at the cell across and saw a man across from him who had a sad, deep look in his eyes. Raziel watched him and in the blink of the eye the man stood up and began to scream. Raziel was slightly disturbed at this, but Corey took it as if it were normal.

"That's Jeffery, his wife was killed and he kind of lost it. So he tried to get someone to kill him and in the end killed that person." Corey explained.

"That's sad, is he always like this?" Raziel asked.

"Sadly, yes. Ever since his wife died he's never been okay. I don't know if he'll ever truly recover from this." Corey said with some sadness in his voice.

Raziel stopped staring and one of the cops went in Jeffery's cell and began beating him with their nightsticks. "Crazy son of a bitch!" One yelled as he beat Jeffery ruthlessly with it.

Raziel winced and turned away. "It's hard to look at these pathetic beings that God wasted his energy on." Corey lightly scoffed. Raziel nodded as the cops left Jeffery's cell and Jeffery was left huddled up on the floor trembling.

"That's not right..." Raziel mumbled. Corey saw an officer open their gate and make a notion to the door that led to the lady behind the desk. "Someone's hear to see you maggots."

Raziel and Corey traveled through the hallway of countless cells and opened the door to see two people in cloaks. Raziel and Corey looked at them puzzled like, neither Corey nor Raziel had seen these figures before. One in a black
cloak approached them.

"We are here to bail both of you out." He said. Or at least it sounded like a male. Raziel stared at him.

"I don't even know you, why are you bailing us out?" Corey asked. Both the people in the cloaks just stared at him.

"Don't ask dumb questions. We have came for you and that is final." The one in the black cloak said. Corey took a step forward and asked a question.

"Let me see you both without your cloaks." The person in the red cloak shook his head.

"We don't like to be seen in the open." Corey silently growled in the displeasure of not being able to know who these people were. The lady at the desk suddenly interuppted the scene.

"You need to claim you have some sort of relationship with them, sirs." The lady said. All though Raziel and Corey couldn't see it, they knew the two people in cloaks were now gritting their teeth in anger.

"We're their.. uh... uncles." The one in the black cloak said nervously.

"Proof?" The lady asked. The person in the black cloak shivered and then the one in the read spoke again.

"We don't need any proof, they both should be greatful for us to come bail them out after what they did." Raziel's expression tightened into a more tense and angry look, these two were intending to try to make some story up to try to make away with the two.

"What did they do, sirs?" The lady asked, adjusting the glasses on her old wrinkled face. The two cloaked figures looked as if they were thinking.

"Well," The black cloaked one said, "they tried to kill us, for one, and.. then they tried to steal something." Raziel simpily laughed.

"You've got no proof and nothing to even back it up. Only a dead man would dare trot on this kind of territory." Corey said strongly.

"He is correct, unless you do have proof." The lady pointed out the fact that was already obvious to Corey and Raziel.

The one in the red cloack laughed a high pitched laugh, which kind of made her sound like a female, all though the lady behind the desk had called them sirs and she didn't interject to the fact that she was a female. Raziel didn't like this fact, these two most be hiding their identity for a good reason.

"We have solid proof, and it's right here." The red cloaked one said as she or he reached into their pocket and grabbed several photoes. He or she handed them to the lady behind the desk who stood up to grab them and then sat down.

"My my... these do show boys who look exactly like you two with guns and even one wear you are wearing ski masks, running with a box." The lady said slightly astonished.

"Let me see those." Raziel said as he grabbed the photos from the lady and looked at them. This was not solid evidence. Their faces were covered in every picture, it could be anyone.

Corey grabbed them from Raziel and noticed the same things he did, "This isn't solid evidence! For all we know they could've taken kids close to our age and took pictures of them doing these activities, and I don't think you stopped to notice that our faces our covered on every single pho-" Corey was cut off by the lady.

"Ahem, you forgot the final one." The lady handed it to Raziel and Raziel dropped his jaw. Both of their faces were showing, but something was off.

"Both of our hair styles are different, this isn't us, but merely a backup photo." Raziel stated. The two people in cloaks were growing impatient.

"Your hairstyles were probably changed long after these incidents, in case anyone were to see you, you didn't want them to recognize you, so, being the punky teens you are, you changed hair for style and cover up." The black cloaked figure said.

"But, this is my natrual hair color. It hasn't been changed since the day I was born, plus the photo with our faces shown shows me with only brown hair, I have very apparent blonde in their too, no matter how low a quality camera you took this picture with, the blonde would've shown up, unless it wasn't me." Raziel bravley said.

"He has a point, plus, I also noticed that the eye colors were messed up." The lady stated. The two people in cloaks looked like they were ready to give up as they snatched the photos from Raziel and Corey.

"We are leaving, but we will be back. These two were put under custody by order of their own parents two years ago!" The one in the black cloak said.

"That's impossible!" Corey and Raziel stated in unision, meaning they said it at the same time.

"My dad died seven years ago, and I doubt you would've seen my mom who is hiding somewhere, reasons unknown." Raziel said as their was a long pause.

"Mark our words, we will return." Suddenly, a gust of wind came out of nowhere and it blew their cloaks, making them quiver and it also blew the door open. Out of nowhere, their cloacks collapsed to the ground. Raziel dived on the black one and shook it violently.

"Nothing.." He muttered, and dropped it on top of the red one, positive that their was nothing left in that one either. Raziel and Corey walked out but like a bullet to their heads, they heard a phone ring on the other side of the room. That was strange, because Raziel never even saw a phone when he had been in there. It may of been under her desk, but why would someone keep something so common under their desk? Raziel and Corey stopped to listen to the telephone call.

"Hello?" The lady answered.

Raziel couldn't hear what the voice on the other line was saying, but listening to the lady might just of been enough to find what he needed to know.

"I'm sorry it didn't work, I tried my best!"

"What do you mean, took sides? I tried to support who ever had the better fight, which I did!"

"I did too!"

"You already said that. All though I wouldn't do it tommorow, or else those two punks might gain some sucspicion."

"Yes, even more than they have right now. I'd avoid it, maybe wait a week or so.."

"What do you mean that's too long? Oh all right fine, bye!" The lady slammed the phone down and sighed.

Raziel began to walk away, as well as Corey. "I have a bad feeling," Corey told Raziel.

"Like-wise." Raziel nodded. Corey looked at a watch at the end of the cell hallway. "It's almost lunch time, we need to get moving." Lunch room? Raziel had never thought of that, since all of the comotion when he arrived. But there was a door at the end of the hallway that contained the cells, so maybe that was the lunch room. Raziel and Corey opened the door and Raziel found himself in a large like cafeteria place.

Raziel and Corey got in line for food and patiently passed the wait with conversation about the inforomation they just received, or should I say grabbed.

"That lady is in cahoots with the cloak people." Raziel stated. Corey nodded in agreement.

"That explains a lot, but it does not explain why she would've hidden a phone. It's a common thing, no one would suspect anything from it. Unless she got it strictly for this occasion, which seems unlikley since a phone is nearly a neccesity for a prison." Raziel told Corey as they moved up in the line.

"Agreed, however, that could've just been bait." Corey said.

"You mean the phone call wasn't real?" Raziel asked.

"Not exactly, but that lady might of known we were listening to the phone call. And besides, wasn't it a little too convienet for us to hear that right after we walked out of the door?" Corey said sucspiciously. Raziel paused as the two got food on their plates. It wasn't a great lunch, it was just two chicken legs, milk, and mixed vegetables, which looked slightly frozen. Raziel and Corey sat at a very small table, ensuring they would be the only ones there.

"You have a good point there, and those two cloaked figures seemed witty and patient. Which makes it odd for them to call shortly after they leave." Raziel suggested.

"So, I think we should wait before making another move, or at least wait until those two cloaked people come back." Corey said and Raziel nodded as he finished his second chicken leg. All Corey had eaten was some of his partially frozed vegetables and some of a chicken leg. He had only drank half of his milk as well.

"Not much of an eater, huh?" Raziel asked, gesturing towards his plate.

"I never was, truthfully. You can have whats left of mine if you want." He offered.

"No thanks, I'm good." Raziel grabbed his tray and threw it in the trash, since it was styrofoam. Suddenly, a loud, high pitched bell rang. "What's that mean?" Raziel asked.

"It's time for bed, we have to go back to our cells. The good thing is is that the cops don't monitor us at night, so we can chat, maybe get to know each other a little better." Corey stated as they left the cafeteria. Raziel nodded, and then noticed it was only 8:30, which struck Raziel as odd.

"Why so early?" Raziel asked. Corey shrugged his shoulders as an officer let him back in his cell, and locked it. The lights flipped out and a small square window let some small light in, which was provided from the bright moon.

"Hey, there's a window in here?" Raziel asked.

"Yes, you didn't notice it?" Corey said.

"Of course I did, but I just notice now that we could break out of this place if we break it!" Raziel grabbed a wrench off the top of the toilet, which may of been placed their by officers, too lazy to fix it, and Raziel hit the window as hard as he could. To his shock, the window was rock solid and it made the wrench vibrate, making his hand hurt as he dropped the wrench.

"I was going to warn you," Corey said, "but you acted so quickly."

"My.. bad." Raziel said picking up the wrench and setting it back down.

"What do you think we can do as of now?" Raziel asked. Corey looked like he was in a daze for a moment, but then responded.

"Not much." He confessed.

"C'mon, there must be something you can do to at least get out of this cell." Raziel said.

"I'm afraid not, but can you keep a secret?" Corey asked.

"Sure." Raziel nodded. Corey looked hesitant, and Raziel was hoping that he would tell him.

"Well... you don't know this, but I'm a shape shifter." Corey said. Raziel's eyes opened wide. He thought shape shifters only existed in fairy tales and movies.

"You serious?" He asked. Corey nodded sternly in response.

"But you can't tell anyone, okay?" Corey said.

"Of course I won't." Raziel replied. Corey disappeared for a minute, as if he were a shadow, but then reappeared as a dark black, thin rectangle, he resembled paper.

"Is that you?" Raziel asked.

"Of course." Corey said, in his new thin, paper like state. He hopped through the cell bars and hopped up to the lock, and then transformed into a key. He inserted himself into the lock and twisted, then dropped from the lock, causing the cell door to freely open. Corey transformed back to his human state.

"That was cool, where did you learn to do that?" Raziel asked.

"To be honest, I have no idea, one day I woke up in my cell and I was some shape, so I got scared and I transformed into myself again. I then experimented and tried different things, but I can't transform into everything." He explained.

"That's odd, but kind of understandable." Raziel said.

"It is kind of odd, but others her have powers as well." Corey replied.

"Really? Like what kinds?" Raziel inquired as the two walked towards the door that led to the lady who was behind her desk.

"I know Jeffery has super strength, which is strange, because he's also really big, which you've probably noticed." Corey lightly laughed as he silently opened the door, and closed it behind him.

"Do people know your sneaking out?" Raziel asked.

"No, I told Jeffery once, but like I told you, he's lost it so he probably didn't even hear me. And if he did, my words would be scrambled due to his hazy mind." Corey said silently.

"That's rather sad." Raziel said. Corey nodded in despair, and then walked out of the prison with Raziel following. The street was empty and the sky was bright with stars. Raziel followed Corey down an alley.

"What is this place?" Raziel asked.

"It's a rather nice hangout spot I set up over a few weeks. Me and my friends used to go here, until I was locked up." He sighed. Raziel looked at the junky furniture set up, there was even a TV set up on top of a box.

"Wow, how long did this take you to make?" Raziel asked in awe as he sat down on the couch.

Corey joined him and began to explain, "Well, for starters, this only took a few weeks. My friends had an old TV they didn't want, so they gave it to me. Before I was locked up, I made this place where me and my friends used to come hang out.

"Who would've thought it would be right next to the prison you got locked up in." Raziel said. Corey nodded, but then shook his head.

"Your right I got locked up here, but it was no coincidence we set this place up here." Corey said.

"Really?" Raziel asked.

"Yes. You see, one of my friend's dad was locked up here before he got put to the death sentence. My friend wanted to remember his dad, so he suggested we put it here." Corey explained. Raziel nodded, following along with him.

"Wow, you certainly have been through a lot. Do you know if your friends ever come back here?" Raziel asked as he looked up at the bright moon.

There was a pause, but then Corey replied, "I don't know. I doubt it, when me and my friends came here, we were just 12 and 13. And even if they did come back, it would only be to look back at an old memory which they may have already forgotten." Corey turned on the TV and changed the channels to channel 20.

"This channel is the news, it's an interesting show I like to watch." Corey said, and Raziel nodded as he began to watch the man at the desk read from a script of a paper.

"This just in, a young boy is arrested and sent to prison. His mother and father are no where to be found, but the guards confirm he will be safe in the prison until he is let out from his 15-year sentence."

Raziel nearly screamed when he heard the length of his sentence, "15 years? That's ridiculous!" Raziel fretted, but Corey calmed him down.

"Calm down now Raziel. I have a feeling this is just something to hook the TV watchers into the show, you know, kind of like a gimmick." Corey said to him. Raziel took a deep breath.

"Yeah, maybe." He said. There was a long silence before something struck Raziel as strange; if Corey could exit the prison, why didn't he just leave?

"Hey Corey," Raziel said.

"Yes?" Corey said.

"If you can exit the prison, why don't you just run away from it?" Raziel asked and Corey began to think, "You can't tell me it never crossed your mind."

"Well, I once did, but I knew the cops would hunt me down using no remorse, in other words, they'd kill me." Corey said. Raziel smiled and began to speak.

"Not some of the places I know, we could go back to my place, and hide out for a while." Raziel said, slightly excited.

Corey frowned, as if Raziel had just spoken nonsense, "Well, we could've, but not since we ate lunch."

"What do you mean?" Raziel asked.

"Simple, they put tiny tracking devices in the food incase anyone runs off, that's why everyone has to eat." Corey explained to Raziel.

"That really sucks, but wait.." Raziel said.

"What?" Corey asked.

"What if we... you know... go to the bathroom. Would the tracker no longer be effective?" Raziel said with a thought hitting him.

"Your right, the cops probably never thought of this, due to the fact that they never knew anyone could escape the prison anyhow." Corey said thoughtfully. Suddenly, Raziel caught something in his periphial vision, he stood up, and began to walk to his sight.

"Is that a... door?" Raziel questioned as he walked further and further to the object he saw. Corey followed close behind and Raziel couldn't believe his eyes, it was a door. "Well, I don't believe it." Corey said.

"Should we go in?" Raziel asked. Corey nodded, as they opened the door, and they wished they never would of. The most horrifying sites came to them, people in test tubes, human organs and animal body parts preserved in ice. Raziel and Corey passed out as gas filled the room.
