Discrepancies
"AuroraOpen in new Window., the entry that concluded the island, has so far received twenty-one views. "Babies, Multicolored and Not So MuchOpen in new Window., the one directly following, has received thirty-eight.

this happens a lot. the entries i'm especially proud of, the ones i want seen, are invariably overlooked. the entries i'm unsure about, or don't like as much because i think they're, say, pretentious, i.e. long lists of other mediocre entries i've written, attract swarms of readers.

at one point, i thought it had a lot to do with titles. one potential factor, i thought, could be the presence or absence of profanity in titles--hence the reason "Great Big Gigantic Ass FailureOpen in new Window., which contains a mildly interesting survey but basically says nothing, has evened out at eighty views, fifty more than the preceding and succeeding ones. but then, what about "Your Stiff CockOpen in new Window., a juvenile label that i thought would earn its entry two jillion views, and that only ended up with twenty-nine?

there is no science to it. like aaron says, i can essentially write whatever i want, and people will read it or not regardless of my agenda. which is just the teensiest bit frustrating for me, as a writer.

for example, this entry, which contains nothing of any substance, will probably be wildly popular. the one following, which i actually want people to read, will almost definitely remain as barren as a government-razed field frozen with snow. but i guess we'll find out.
