WEDDING ADVICE: a sonnet


I do rejoice that you are now wedded
To one who has been always in your thought;
Whose image in your heart is embedded,
Who has a real change in your life brought.


While everyone celebrates your wedding,
And gives you flowers, bouquets and the gifts,
My friend, I tell you an important thing
To tackle much of marital conflicts:

“In marriage happiness does not depend
On finding a good partner in your life.
What matters is: spouses must learn to bend,
And be themselves a good husband or wife”.

This is the key, my friend, to happiness.
Ignore it and life will be wilderness.
