I have a CD by a Contemporary Christian group called Eden's Bridge, the album "Celtic Journeys." One of my favorite songs is called "Fair Weather Friend." Here are the lyrics: When I'm down you're always missing When I'm fine you take your share When things go bad you're best forgotten I could think that you don't care Walking in circles We're going nowhere now it seems Nothing is certain Of what becomes of you and me Fair weather friend of mine Fair weather friend of mine Fair weather friend of mine You know you're no good for me It all came home a week last Sunday Things you've said and things I've seen That when I live a week of Wednesdays You will be no good for me There's something missing And what it is is what we need I'm going searching For a friend who'll never leave me I thought of this song after I read all the comments you left in David McClain 's blog entry "Invalid Entry" . None of you can be described as a "Fair Weather Friend", but the exact opposite. The outpouring of support you gave David McClain , the compassionate and loving words I've read in other blogs as well as the ones you've left in mine, my only reaction is tears of gratitude and joy. You all represent the best of humanity, that this world is not as dark and full of selfish people as it sometimes seems. I told David McClain he's my hero, but he's not the only one. I admire and look up to each one of you, and I'm proud and blessed to call you a True, Let's-Travel-This-Sometimes-Dark-and-Dismal-Path-Together-Friend. |
