BUT ONE DAY I TOO SHALL BE GONE
BUT ONE DAY I TOO SHALL BE GONE

Today whole world I want to own,
But one day I too shall be gone.

Why should I try to possess all?
I may soon get my final call.
About that call why should I moan?
When one day I too shall be gone?

There’s no harm in amassing wealth,
If it is through work, not through stealth.
I ought to be charity-prone,
For one day I too shall be gone.

I must be frugal while I spend.
Simplicity must be my trend.
Let for charity I be known,
Ere the day comes when I am gone.

While I may give generously,
It’s best done anonymously,
Lest pride may on my face be shown,
Tainting my name when I am gone.
