POETRY: an addiction
POETRY: an addiction

Am I addicted to poetry?
I am sure I will have to say yes.
If I spend most time writing poems,
Addiction is the right term I guess.

Waking, I switch on my computer
To view the coments on what I write.
Then I start writing fresh poems for
Entering the contests which invite.

It often happens when I lie down,
I think of a phrase or of a line
That looks tantalizingly proper
For growing into a poem fine,

Then I just can’t continue with sleep.
I get up and switch on my computer.
I just start pounding on the keyboard,
A poem in rhyme shapes up proper.

What is this if not addiction hot?
Of this addiction, I’m ashamed not.
