WONDER IN THE WATER Standing by the lakeside, deep In the thoughts of days gone by, In bright moonlit night as the Gentle ripples brightly shine, What do I chance upon here, As I view moon’s reflection? Moonspots rearrange themselves Into a faint human face. Do I recognize the eyes? Do I know the curve of lips? Who is sending me that smile, And, true, a heavenly kiss? Oh, yes. It is you my dear, Just as you were that first night, When we walked here hand in hand, And, instantly, you were mine. Yes, I know you’re calling me. No, I won’t wait a moment. Here I come my darling, wait. You and I will yet be one. But, what? Who’s holding me there? Whose pull is that draws me back? Who prevents me from my chance To once more meet whom I lost? And, where have you disappeared? What cloud has snatched you from me? Yet, in this darkness who’s there, Beckoning me from behind? It is at this moment I Realize your wondrous being. From the skies to lake waters, You came to me just to tell: You are with me all the time. You are a part of my life. You want me to keep going In my journey, O dear wife. * Written in 7-7-7-7 format. * Submitted to "Invalid Item" , “Lexi's Poetry Challenge—Round 33” Contest, as a poem written around the prompt “Wonder in the water” • REQUEST—While reviewing, please copy and paste the following in your review: This is a review for “entry:468213".
