They flare up every once in awhile. Diarrhea or constipation isn't as bad as loose stool that smears and aggravates. Most people of course don't talk about the excretory canal. Neither do I, but hell ... after being in pain for two days I thought I'd just share the joyjoyjoy of it all! My dad had hemorrhoids, and I WAS a pain-in-the-ass at times, so I guess this is payback. It can hit early and pregnant women are prone, but it is most common after 50. So if you are a young male or a young female that wants children just think of what you have to look forward to. I may have to mention this episode to my doctor. I'm sure Laurie is going to be thrilled! A simple operation may help. Hemorrhoidal links: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic2821.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemorrhoid http://www.medicinenet.com/hemorrhoids/article.htm Andropause however is a male-only problem. I do not have to deal with it, but I can guarantee that many men over 50 do. It can affect sexual functioning and I can assure women that are reading this that thát does matter ... for some ... alot. I met a man a couple years ago who was open enough to talk about his situation. It's like having the knowledge and the memory but not quite the urge. So, maybe someday, me too. Age exacts its price. Andropause: http://www.andropause.com/about_andropause/ http://www.wellnessmd.com/andropause.html Now, I remember that my math teacher in highschool, Mr. Neff, had nose hairs. When you're a teenager this sounds gross. It's not. And if you live long enough you may have to adjust to hair in any number of unwanted places. Now hair on top of the head isn't one of them! That tends to thin and in my family it affects the women too. Ah, nose hairs ... I pull them out. I find them annoying. Still, it is wise to remember that nose hairs do act as filters and are important. Some people suffer from a lack of hairs. Just not me. Nose hairs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosehairs http://www.skinandhealth.com/details/hair_faq A bit of humor ... a place where you can pull out nose hairs one-by-one! WEATHER 42º and sunny! 43º in Buffalo and rain. 34º in Missoula and light snow. 79º in Mumbai, India and sunny Sri Latha from India is missing the sunny warmth of 90º and sunny every day. She provides a link to this simple 9 question test: http://www.animalinyou.com/survey.asp My results were mole. For more info see the last entry. MY LIFE Boring. Sunday: went to the bell concert but missed seeing Liz. Did meet Sri Latha who is a visiting prof from India. She studies family-based mental health services. In India the institutions are unavailable or inaccesible at times (here too I'd hate to tell her). She's very articulate and bright. Sent a postcard to a friend. Monday: saw Susan, bought some chocolate and Goldfish crackers, crashed in the afternoon. Watched Six-Feet-Under. WATT'S GNUS Buffalo Sabres: Well, the Buffalo Sabres keep winning. 7-4 over Carolina? Awesome! It is amazing how a hockey team can lift the spirits of a community. After the Sabres first loss the crowd gave the team a standing ovation. Not so the Jayhawks ... the football fans start leaving a half-time. A nice article about the fans: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Akspzw7SXoWWU8Xtge8RErF7vLYF?slug=cnnsi-th... And then there are studies on how dinosaurs once walked based on their living cousins, birds. A quote: "Not all flightless birds alive today are good choices or easy to work with. Ostriches have an attitude problem and are two-toed, unlike therapods, which had three-toed feet, Breithaupt explained. Rheas have three toes, but are "like working with a bunch of kindergarteners on too much sugar," he said. Emus have three toes and are relatively easy to study. Moreover, there was an emu ranch located in Colorado an hour from the researchers." from: http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20061031/sc_space/bigbirdsrevealhowdinosaurwalked ** Image ID #1134108 Unavailable ** Kåre Enga |
